Welcome to the new *and improved* Wishing Wealth

grand opening Hello and welcome to the new home of Dr. Wish’s Wishing Wealth Blog. I’m your host: Mr. Wish.

My dad has been slaving over this blog for a few years now and I have always felt incredibly inspired by his commitment and devotion to his field. And you’re probabaly thinking, jeez aren’t you lucky to have a dad who’s so savvy about the stock market, you’re gonna be filthy rich if you just follow his financial advice. Unfortunately for me the only advice I have ever taken from him is to follow your passion. My passion is designing web sites. Enter: the new wishing wealth blog.

I designed this site as a dedication to my dad, because he has provided me with all the support in the world to do what I love. I wanted to make sure I had the chance to return the favor. Keep up the good work, pops.

Now let’s get down to business and let me introduce you to some of the features of the new site:

This site is powered by WordPress. We moved from TypePad in order to allow for the new site to support advanced features. I will have full control of every aspect of the site to make it more usable for all of you as well as my dad. here are some of the notably new features:

Hand Picked Quotes
To your right you will see quotes of the indexes and hand picked quotes from Dr. Wish. This is where you’ll find quotes from his portfolio as well as quotes that he references in his posts.

Rated Posts
This is where you guys get the opportunity to rank your favorite. Once you click on the title of a post from the home page you will see a place to add comments but right above that you should see a red and green arrow that you can click to add a rating to the post. Please utilize this so that new users have an idea of what the best content is and so Dr. Wish has feedback about what to focus on in his posts.

Recommended Reading
At the bottom of this sidebar you’ll see icons of the books that Dr. Wish has recommended. If you plan on buying any one of these books because of his recommendation please buy it through the link posted here. You will receive your book and and amazon will contribute a percentage of the purchase towards keeping this site up and running. All your support is much appreciated.

Before I forget, my name is Mike Wish. (Unlike my dad who might start that sentence “before i forget my name, my name is”–just kidding, dad)   I’m a recent University of Maryland graduate and now a full time Web Design freelancer.   I will be checking feedback on this site so please let me know what I can personally do to make this site more usable and better for you all. I will be posting from time to time as I continue to add features to the site. Without further ado, a shameless plug: Check up on me personally on my new site, mdubbed.com.

Cheers and enjoy the new site!

  1. Great question, you will need to resubscribe to the RSS feed the old one will no longer be updated. You can do so just to the right of your comment under the “Feeds/Syndication” section in the sidebar.

    Thanks for your comment!

  2. Great look Dr. Wish! I especially like the logo header. I’ll miss the old one, but this one looks clean and smooth. Two thumbs up.

  3. Thanks again for all of the effort and time that you share with us. I check your site daily and sometimes several times a day for words of wisdom. I like the look of the new layout.
    Best Regards,

  4. Great work on the new look…..well organized with a clean, uncluttered visual. Mike, I second the suggestion that usability would be improved by adding the day and date…….these are displayed when you click on “Comments” but not at the top of Dr. Wish’s posts.

    Thanks and best regards!!
